Joe Micela is a renowned coach and owner of Performance One Advanced Sports Training, which he founded in 2000. He is a passionate and dedicated coach who is committed to the development of superior athletes. Joe has trained athletes at the high school, collegiate, and Olympic levels, and his mission is to contribute his knowledge, enthusiasm, and experience to their success.
Born in South Philadelphia and raised in Southern New Jersey, Joe has a strong background in sports. He wrestled at Rutgers University and Arizona State University, where he also graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science and Physical Education. During his time at ASU, he served as the undergrad strength and conditioning coach for the collegiate teams and later as the interim head strength and conditioning coach at Northern Arizona University.
Joe's impressive titles include being a USA Weightlifting Senior International Coach and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. He has received numerous accolades, including being named the 2008 Developmental Coach of the Year from the United States Olympic Committee, representing the sport of weightlifting. In 2009, he was the assistant coach for the Men and Women's Senior World Team, and in 2010, he coached two athletes to the Senior World Championships.
In 2011, Joe guided the Women's World Team to solidify two female slots for the 2012 Olympics, and in 2012, he coached four-time national champion Sarah Robles to the 2012 Olympics. He was also the head strength and conditioning coach for the Arizona Rattlers Arena Football Team for the 2018-2020 seasons.
Joe Micela's dedication to his craft and his athletes is evident in his accomplishments and the success of his clients. He continues to inspire and develop athletes to achieve their full potential through his knowledge, expertise, and passion for sports performance training.

Nate started at Performance One as a Weightlifter back in 2016. Since then he has medaled at Multiple National Competitions on every level and has made 2 Junior Pan Am and 1 Junior World Team.

He has found an interest in spreading the knowledge and expertise of Olympic Weightlifting and Strength & Conditioning to younger and developing athletes that he has gained through his athletic journey and training under Coach Micela.

Morgan Huppenthal
Physical Therapist & Coach
Morgan Huppenthal is a highly skilled and accomplished physical therapist based in Mesa, Arizona. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise and Wellness at Arizona State University and later completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Midwestern University. As the owner of MH Physical Therapy, she is committed to helping her patients achieve their best possible outcomes through a combination of advanced techniques and personalized care.

As an assistant coach under Joe Micela at Performance One Advanced Sports Training, Morgan has gained invaluable experience working with elite athletes and training programs. She has also worked national events for USA Weightlifting Medical Society, contributing her expertise to the wider community of sports and fitness professionals.
